Alejandro was born in Holguin, Cuba. His first experience as an artist was when he auditioned for a live TV show at the age of 10 years old and he started singing in the chorus of children of Tele Cristal, the local TV station of his native city. At the same time he started taking private lessons of music, acting, ballet and painting. He dreamed to become an artist like his idols at the time.

Plácido Domingo represented a strong influence for Alejandro, since he grew up listening to him and imitating his voice. He noticed he could sing with an operatic timbre "like Domingo," and that made him believe he could become a singer. He then prepared a few songs like ''Granada'', ''O Sole Mio'', ''Siboney'' and auditioned for a local voice competition in his hometown. He was the winner of the contest and received several prizes including the "great prize , first place, young revelation and the audience prize".

Following the success at the local competition, he auditioned for the renowned coach Nayade Proenza, seeking counsel about an opera career. She was so impressed with the young Mr. Salvia’s talent that she advised him to prepare to audition for the prestigious University of Arts of Cuba (ISA) in Havana to study voice. Among the more than 300 people who auditioned in 1998 to get in the Voice program at the ISA, university in Havana, he got the highest credit in the admission tests.

In the second year of his college career, Alejandro auditioned for the Cuban Early Music group, “El Gremio” and was hired as a soloist, where he acquired extensive experience in the music, dances and theatre of medieval and renaissance ages. Having found a new passion as interpeter of the early composers and their music in 2004 he auditioned for the Male Chorus Camerata Vocale Sine Nomine, and was accepted as a lead tenor, performing concerts all over his native country.

During his studies in the university, Alejandro attended several masterclasses with teachers such as the Italian conductor, harpsichordist and pianist Emanuela Marcante, tenor Ricardo Muniz, soprano Almudena Ortega, the Spanish pianist, first prize in piano and chamber music at the Conservatory of San Sebastián, Josu Okinena, who also prepared and accompanied Alejandro´s recital of graduation, among others.

Right after his graduation, Alejandro started working with the prestigious company Teatro Lirico Rodrigo Prats in Holguin, making his debut as first tenor in 2006 with the Cuban Zarzuela Amalia Batista, in the lead role of Julio. He continued singing as a lead tenor with the company during three subsequent years.
Although he was succeeding in his early career, excessive work and facing roles that were not suitable for his age produced that Alejandro lost his voice. It was so that he had to undergo a difficult absolute vocal rest of 3 months. This made him rethink the effectiveness of his vocal technique, so without being able to emit a sound he began an investigation in search of a healthy technique that would help him to restore and strengthen his instrument. It was then that he began to study all the material he could access on the internet and at the library  about vocal technique, focused on the Italian school of singing, combined with the study and practice of neuro-muscular coordination methods such as The Alexander Technique, The Feldenkreis Method and yoga.T he knowledge that he obtained not only helped him to return to the stage but also aroused in him a great passion for teaching, using a healthy vocal technique approach combined with exercises that develop body awareness and correct relationship of energy and relaxation Then he became a voice teacher at  the music conservatory Jose Maria Ochoa, in Holguin where he gained a great reputation for the great results he obtained with his students.

Alejandro left Cuba in 2009 and went to Mexico hired by the Autonomous University of Saltillo to offer a season of concerts in collaboration with the ballet company directed by the also Cuban dancer Adrian Puig. At the same time he started working with the company Acústica and Co. offering concerts and galas in several stages of Mexico accompanied for pianist Alejandro Miyaki and conducted by Marco Natanael Espinosa. His passion for acting led him to audition for the director David Trillo who was casting for the musical Cabaret. Alejandro got the lead role of Emcee, and this was his biggest success in Mexico when he traveled with the show to different cities in Mexico getting significant critics from newspapers, television and popular acclaim.

In July, 2009 while Alejandro was working as a voice teacher for the Autonomous University of Noreste, in Saltillo, Mexico, he auditioned for the governor, who offered Alejandro a full scholarship to participate in the international opera workshop “Artescenica” where he was able to take lessons from important names in the world of opera like Catherine Ciesinsky, Claude Corbeil, Maureen O'Flynn, Corradina Caporello, Fernando de la Mora and Marioara Trifan, among others. He was selected, among other singers, to sing as a soloist for the final gala. During the workshop some of the teachers adviced him to move to the United States of America.

Alejandro moved to the US. in September, 2010 to study with Louis Alba in Houston, Texas.

At the same time he started working as a stage director, teacher and performer for many Hispanic and Latin-American organizations and schools in Texas, such as Talento Bilingue de Houston (TBH), Institute Hispanic of Culture of Houston (IHCH), Foundation for Modern Music, Sucesos Newspaper, Multicultural Education and Counseling Trough the Arts (MECA) Houston Spanish & Flamenco Festival, Casa de España de Houston, Houston Arts Alliance, Consulate Generale of Colombia in Houston, and many more, receiving recognition and gaining a great prestige as a one of the emerging Latino performers in US, as well as a teacher.

Alejandro moved to New York in September, 2013 to audition for the  Opera Regina company, and was hired to play Don Basilio in The Marriage of Figaro. About his performance, critics said “Alejandro Salvia was a comedic treat as music master Don Basilio. His outlandish and effete attire and expressive tenor made for much merriment.” Brooklyn Daily Eagle, New York, Saturday, March 15, 2014.

In september 2013, he also auditioned for enCanta Collective Opera company based in NY, and was hired to sing in the concert WAGNER, VERDI AND BEYOND: THE PERFECT FOOL, singing the part of Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff, and covering Eduardo in Un Giorno di Regno. During the same month, he was one of the 12 singers selected  for an Early Arias workshop directed by Carolyn Zebron. Being accepted in the space of one month after moving to New York for 3 different companies, gave Alejandro the recognition he was hoping for, and the encouragement to keep working hard to get his ultimate goal. An international career as an opera singer.

 As an educator he has been doing considerable teaching in professional training programs,  private seminars and multidisciplinary clinics, contributing his unique understanding of the vocal technique in combination with  the practice of exercises from neuro-muscular coordination methods such as The Alexander Technique, The Feldenkreis Method and Yoga in the related fields of personal development, health and the performing arts


He also serves as a talent promoter, including in his productions artists who exhibit with their artistic expressions their wide and rich cultural heritage. He has his private vocal studio  NY and Miami where nowadays he works as an artist manager and event producer.

Alejandro activelly practices pilates, yoga, biking, crossfit, acrobacy and latin dances.
