"ROOTS" This program is a special collaboration between tenor Alejandro Salvia and pianist/composer Patricio Molina that brings music and culture from Cuba to the outside world. The program highlights works by important Cuban composers like Eliseo Grenet, Hubert de Blanck, Ernesto Lecuona, Rodrigo Prats, and Gisela Hernández, among others. The program also includes the world premiere of an original cycle of six songs by Patricio Molina written on the poetry of Cuban poets, such as José Martí, Nicolás Guillén, Dulce María Loynaz, and more. The themes in the texts range from nature, love and sorrow, to powerful statements celebrating African roots in Cuban culture.
